Principal's Message
Parents, Guardians and Students, As the principal of Canyon Springs High School, it is my pleasure to welcome students, parents and guardians to the 2011-2012 school year. I encourage you and students to become an active part of the school, we have many committees and clubs that allow for participation and support for school activities. The school appreciates and welcomes your participation in school activities and programs. Encourage your students to get to school on time, be in the classroom and stay engaged in the learning process, these skills are needed when they transition into the” world of work” and college. Research has shown that students who attend classes are more likely to succeed. Higher dropout rates are linked to students who are truant thus falling behind in course credits and therefore, are less likely to graduate. Monitoring your student’s homework helps them to develop study habits and a sense of responsibility while the assignments reinforce skills that they learned in the classroom. The expectation of the school is that students follow the rules, which promote a safe school and reduce distractions allowing students to focus on learning. They are designed to provide structure and instill a sense of responsibility which helps ensure that everyone is treated fairly. Fighting and bullying will not be tolerated which contributes to a negative learning environment. Teaching our students tolerance of others and doing the right thing takes courage and demonstrates self-control, kindness, honesty trustworthiness, citizenship, and respect for themselves and others. Please read the dress code requirements with your child, they are designed to promote self-respect, maintain a safe and healthy learning environment and prepare them for a job. Cell phones can be distracting to other students if used or answered in the classroom and they are easily lost or stolen. Remind your students that electronic devices are not permitted on the campus these include iPods, PSP players, ear buds, cameras, etc. These items should remain at home so they do not get lost, broken or stolen. The staff and administration look forward to building and watching our academic success flourish, with your help this goal can be victorious. Sincerely, ![]() Tammy Guzzetta Principal CANYON SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL “Parents can only give good advice or put them on the right path, but the final forming of a person’s character lies in their own hands.” -- Anne Frank- |
